Very Low-Calorie Diet (VLCD) and Low-Calorie Diet (LCD)

A VLCD is defined as an intake of 500–800 calories a day while an LCD is defined as an intake of 800–1,500 calories per day. People with a BMI of more than 30 benefit the most from a VLCD or an LCD.

So how is it incorporated into your daily routine? Our clinician will come up with a diet containing high-protein, low-calorie, and high-fiber food. Your response to the diet is closely monitored by our clinician, and you will be thoroughly informed about any potential side effects. We make sure our diet plans are tailored according to your needs.

Meal Plans

You will learn how many servings per day are recommended from each food group and what quantity constitutes a serving size. Our program provides concrete, step-by-step guidelines to gradually change your eating practices and behaviors.

Meal Replacement Products

We only use products from Advanced Health Systems’ line of nutritional food. We make sure that you have an adequate intake of high-quality protein and proper nutrition.

Doing so increases your compliance to our treatments, helps you curb your appetite, helps you measure your food intake by practicing portion size control, allows you to enjoy great-tasting nutritional food options, preserves your body’s lean tissue, and helps you achieve a higher metabolic rate during calorie restriction so long as your intake of lean protein is maintained at high levels.

Appetite Suppressants

We offer a variety of products that are safe and effective in curbing your appetite to help you lose weight.

Energy Boosters

(Lipotropic Injections)

These injections give your amino acid levels a boost, but those levels will return to normal within about a week. As such, you need to replenish these nutrients often in order to maintain their enhanced fat-burning abilities. In line with this, we recommend two sessions per week.

Behavioral Modification

Our program helps you break the inappropriate links between eating and events other than psychological hunger. Since behavioral change is the cornerstone of successful weight loss, our program teaches you what conditions trigger unhealthy behaviors (e.g., eating high-fat foods, not exercising, etc.), how to institute new health behaviors, and how to use “reinforcers” to help ensure that your healthy behavior persists.

For many clients, a variety of events can precipitate hunger other than a physiologic need. You will learn about the process of relapse and common high-risk situations that precipitate relapses. We also provide strategies for effectively coping with a variety of high-risk situations.

Smart Exercise Coaching

The job of an exercise coach goes beyond what you get with simple personal training services. Having an exercise coach gives you direction and accountability while a personal trainer’s job is merely to put you through a workout.

At North Florida Medical Weight Loss, we insist that you engage in exercise coaching and we strongly recommend gym membership, preferably with personal training. Our trainers take time during each session to check in with you on your overall progress, including what happens outside of the training sessions.

This is important because even if you exercise for an hour a day, that still leaves 23 hours that you may spend sabotaging the progress you made in the gym. Our smart coaching system helps you to master stress-reduction techniques, which you can use when you are likely to turn to emotional eating or skipping a workout because you feel overwhelmed with life.

On the exercise front, we may suggest workouts for you to follow for the rest of the week outside of what you do at the gym. By having this extra coaching, you will get far more value out of your personal training appointments and be on track to achieve your results at a faster rate.
